Assignment: Create a brand for Julie Gray, the witty and sassy consultant, speaker, author and blogger about all things writing.

Strategy: With so many writers and screenwriters trying to fit a formula, it’s time to take a stand for the basic criterion of entertainment value – and do it with tough love.

Solution: Just Effing Entertain Me, the world of Julie Gray.

The site accommodates her famous blog as well as her e-commerce. Julie and I felt the brand should imediately engage visitors, and then should stick them. So the home page header is designed to captivate, while blog posts, recent tweets, Facebook, newsletter, and podcast access are tailored for stickiness.

In addition to other digital elements such as e-newsletter templates and small web banners, a slew of collateral including handouts and flyers advertising Julie’s tour of speaking engagements.

Result: After 8 months of being live, an increase from 150,000 pageviews/month to over 450,000. Just Effing was voted in the Top 50 Entertainment Blog sites by Moviemaker Magazine in 2010, as well as in the prestigious Cream Of The Crop by Creative Screenwriting Magazine.
